Services

I empower my patients to build a toolbox of skills you can use to successfully manage pain. I want you to ultimately know that pain isn’t the boss of your life: You are.

How I Help

OFFERING IN-PERSON & TELEHEALTH OPTIONS

In-Person Appointments

Empowered Path offers Mobile Outpatient services to individuals in Larimer and Weld County, Colorado.

*There may be a mileage surcharge for services outside 20 mile radius from my office.

Telehealth Options

I offer telehealth services to individuals anywhere in Colorado. Access to high-quality care is a priority for me, and telehealth allows me the opportunity to reach those in remote areas, who might be homebound, or outside my current radius.

Graded Motor Imagery

GMI is a three step process that emphasizes retraining of the brain to positively impact the pain experience.

Groups

Engaging in therapy along a few other individuals who share your experience can help repair some of the missing social aspects of your life, while allowing you to hear other perspectives and solutions. It’s also a more affordable option as part of my commitment to making therapy more accessible to those who are in need.

Reiki

Reiki is an evidence based modality that reduces pain and facilitates engagement in occupation. Reiki treatment can be included in an occupation-based treatment session. I also offer separate, cash-based extended reiki treatment sessions for the individual who desires more of this type of modality.

How Can You Benefit from OT?

The benefit of the OT approach is our emphasis on self-management of pain. My goal is to work myself out of a job and provide my patients the tools to manage pain and manage it for life. I always hope that pain will go away entirely, but if that’s not possible, we work towards how they can live well.

Occupational therapy has its roots in mental health and occupation-based treatment during World War I. Soldiers who were disabled in battle were able to re-engage with life post-injury with the help of "reconstruction aides." These patients participated in games, crafts, and other daily activities as part of their rehabilitation. Since its inception, OT has emphasized the therapeutic value of engaging in everyday, normal, and even mundane aspects of life.

If chronic pain has kept you from having lunch with friends, let's work together to get you back to the table. If water aerobics was once essential for your social life and physical health, let's get you back in the pool. Occupational therapy aims to help you live your best life, and no obstacle is too small, too big, or too insignificant for us to address. There is healing in the tasks of daily life, and I'm here to guide you on the journey back to full participation in your everyday activities.

What to Expect with OT:

INITIAL VISIT

The initial evaluation will be a 90-minute time slot. It will be structured like an interview, as I learn more about your pain experience, meaningful occupations, current obstacles, and priorities. You may receive paperwork to fill out ahead of time, depending on your specific diagnosis. We will complete multiple standardized forms and questionnaires that aid in evaluating your current functional capacity so we can empirically assess your progress during our time together.

During the evaluation, we will develop a Plan of Care with specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals.

TREATMENT

Each treatment session will focus on addressing the established SMART goals. We may do this through Graded Motor Imagery techniques, mindfulness, sensory management, social stories, and more.

The time between sessions is just as important as the actual time spent with me. Our brains and nervous systems can be retrained, but this requires consistent daily practice. Some evidence suggests that every 8 minutes spent working on calming and retraining the nervous system has significant payoffs for functional capacity.

Each treatment session will end with a Homework Review so that you can continue the work on your own between sessions to amplify results.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A 90-minute OT evaluation is $195. A 60-minute treatment session is $150, or you can purchase a package of 6 sessions at a discounted rate of $800. Group sessions, which accommodate 3-6 individuals, are $45 per person. Reiki-only sessions start at $45 for 30 minutes, $55 for 45 minutes, and $75 for 60 minutes. Reiki can be conducted either in person or via telehealth. Schedule a consultation to explore additional pricing options.

  • I currently accept only Tricare/Triwest Insurance. Please schedule a consultation regardless of insurance status, as I am open to expanding options based on need.

  • If you are a Tricare patient, you will need a referral from your provider or VA pain team to access my services. However if you are a cash pay patient, no referral is required. As I expand and take additional insurance plans, this process will be subject to change.

  • It's a classic OT answer: It depends! My 6-package pricing is based on a 6-week program that has been shown to relieve pain in individuals who commit to doing their homework between sessions and engage with an OT weekly. The crux of my work relies on retraining the brain. This is a process that takes time and can only be accomplished through regular, committed practice and adherence to assigned protocols. Additionally, the time to see results will depend on your specific diagnoses, how long you’ve been living with pain, and other biological, psychological, and social factors. The good news is that your brain can be retrained at virtually any time—it just requires commitment and consistency.

Most patients benefit from weekly services, with the occasional twice-a-week session to address severe flare-ups as needed. I also like to gradually wean patients off OT services by spacing appointments farther and farther apart as we near discharge, allowing mastery of self-management principles.

You may benefit from my services if you’ve been diagnosed with any of the following conditions:

Chronic Pain Syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis, neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), phantom limb pain, peripheral neuropathy, spinal cord injuries, or spinal pain. This is not a comprehensive list, and you do not need a formal diagnosis to work with me. If you have pain that has persisted beyond 3 months, schedule a consultation and let’s get you back to living your best life.

  • Currently I am only licensed in Colorado, but working on gaining licensure in WY. I am always willing to look into the option of being licensed in your state, so please do not let that be a barrier to scheduling a consultation.
